Welcome to the MSL Projects Page
At the Maryland Student Legislature (MSL), our projects are initiated and driven by the Council of State (COS) to foster student engagement, leadership, and policy innovation. The COS is committed to empowering students, enhancing their legislative skills, and creating opportunities for meaningful participation in the democratic process. Below, you can explore some of our key projects designed to support and develop the next generation of leaders in Maryland.
The Recruitment Team project was initiated to address the need for greater representation and participation across Maryland's student communities within the Maryland Student Legislature (MSL). Launched by the Council of State with active involvement from the Governor, Lt. Governor, and a team of dedicated members, this initiative aims to ensure that every school in Maryland is aware of the opportunities MSL offers. By engaging with students from diverse backgrounds, the project fosters an inclusive environment that amplifies all voices in shaping the state's future. Through targeted outreach, workshops, and informational sessions, the Recruitment Team builds connections with schools and student organizations, providing resources and support to help new delegations thrive. Our ultimate goal is to empower students, cultivate leadership skills, and inspire the next generation of leaders to make a positive impact on their communities and beyond.
The Inter-Delegation Project is an exciting initiative designed to enhance collaboration and engagement among various delegations across Maryland. This project includes a series of enriching activities such as guided tours of the Maryland State House, thrilling visits to Six Flags, a dedicated Debate Day to hone argumentative skills, and educational tours of Washington D.C. and the Maryland Supreme Court. These activities aim to provide students with a deeper understanding of legislative processes, foster camaraderie among participants, and create memorable experiences that inspire future leaders. Through this project, students have the unique opportunity to connect with peers from different delegations, engage in meaningful discussions, and gain firsthand insights into the workings of government and the judiciary.
